So this post is a little overdue, still hanging over from MBFWA. So I thought no better time to post, than when I have been too sick to work on any new content for y’all. Yes, you heard it here first… I have spent the largest part of the last week fighting the death flu with equal parts coughing fits and Brooklyn 99.
Anyways, you know me. I don’t really wear colour. In fact I almost never wear colour.
But then… red. It has come onto my radar lately, and if it didn’t have my attention before, after a week full of incredible shows at fashion week, it certainly has it now.
Red is certainly the colour of the season, and to be honest I found it surprisingly easy to wear. Plus added bonus, it kind of acted as an automatic mood booster. I just don’t think you can feel unhappy wearing red (given I have compiled only one day of anecdotal evidence).
But still, it’s definitely a colour you’ll see hanging around more often here on tom girl & threads, and here are my top tips on how to embrace the hottest colour of the season into your personal style (see what I did there?…apologies there is more where that came from… I’m still a little out of it from the sickness)
TOP TIPS TO EMBRACE RED:
1. Started from the bottom and now we here
So I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Shoes are ALWAYS a great place to start when branching out of your comfort zone. If you’re a monochrome gal, a red pair of shoes is an easy way to add a bit of colour to your life. But I will say, this colour is contagious, it starts from the feet and works it’s way up (hence my above Drake reference).
2. All the small things
Apparently I’m going with a lyric theme today. Forgive me, it’s been a big week. Personally I’m looking at sunglasses, scarfs and bags for this one. Does a statement lip count as an accessory? That’s your call.
3. Block it like it’s hot
Yes, sticking with it. Only needing to pun it up little to make this one work (sorry Snoop). One of the great things about red, is that a more is more approach is definitely your friend. So be bold and colour block it up.
