If you haven’t heard of Maggie Marilyn… you’ve been missing out! So allow me the pleasure of introducing you to this beautiful brand.
Hailing from New Zealand, Maggie Marilyn this beautiful label is still in its early days – but has shaken up the fashion industry and reached some incredible milestones already. The were the first label to have their first season picked up by luxury e-commerce site Net-a-Porter.
Her pieces are feminine and romantic, but also have an edge. And the fit and tailoring is just incredible. You can literally feel the love that has been poured into their pieces.
But beyond just being an aesthetically beautiful label – Maggie Marilyn from day one has integrated sustainability at the core of the label. As a label they champion transparency and their clothes are all made locally [she knows all the workers by name].
They aim to have 50% of their collection made from recycled materials by the end of 2020. Their ultimate goal is complete circularity as a business. With consumers being able to return their no longer worn pieces to be resold or repurposed into something else
I just had the pleasure of wearing some of her beautiful pieces to a Chanel Beauty event while I was in Sydney [will share more images soon].
In addition to her main label – she’s also just launched ‘Somewhere’. Her new line of basics, made just as consciously as everything else. Quality, timeless pieces made from natural fibres and with the ‘perfect fit’ in mind.
Somewhere pieces are created out of three fabrics: organic cotton, New Zealand merino wool (both natural fibres which can be recycled and/or composted), as well as regenerated nylon made from plastics redirected from landfill and oceans and turned into fabric.
